  • 6x6 vs. 8x8

Let me preface this question with the fact that I have never rode in a AATV and have only seen a handful (parked) in person. I dont know where my obsession with AATVs comes from other than I saw one in the back of some magazine when I was very young and have been hooked ever sense. At this point in my life I cant afford even a cheap used one never mind the fact that I have nowhere to park it. Anyway I get my AATV fix by watching youtube videos of AATVs. A question I have is... Do 8x8s ride smoother than a 6x6 and do 8x8s get through the mud, muck, swamps, snow or whatever you can think of a little better than a 6x6. I know the answer to my question has a bit to do with how aggressive the tire is but I would say most the videos I watch the 8x8s make it through easier than the 6x6s.

8x8's can ride better, with the right tires a 6x6 can ride decent. 8x8 doesn't make it better in the mud. I describe it as car vs station wagon.

you can get a 6 wheel into tighter spots when turning,an 8 wheel you tend to hit things with the rear corners
You never know till you try it
