according to the manual, when new, my early 80s argo could run for 8 hours at full throttle on one full tank of gas!!. the tank can hold 30 litres.

      Depends on the terrain.
I have a Avenger with a 26 hp Kohler and can ride pretty much all day on 8 gallons. That is in trails up hills and in water. We just returned to CAW from a ride and i still had 2 gallons left in the tank. Rode from around 09:30 to after 5 with some stops. Very seldom will you be running wide open for a whole day. There will be idling time, hard pull time and you will take a break occasionally.

Sand, like at the Beach is a little different. Mine uses more in the soft sand, but if you stay on the wet portion of the beach it is not as noticeable. I know this is guesstimation, fuel consumption varies with the terrain and how hard you run your machine.

That's what i was told also Gidda, but has anyone ever did this just to see if it was true! Be a pretty good way to blow an engine in my opinion
That is why i avoided that statement, but you are correct in what you said.

                Gas

Frozen lake riding should be a blast. I would stay away from the English Channel without a outboard motor. You should be fine on gas for a day on the lake.

I try to stay away from carrying extra gas in my machine when riding. and if i do transport it(only to a base camp) i have a sheet of plywood over the back flooring with a rubber coating. This takes the static factor out of the picture. Just like filling a plastic gas tank in a bed liner of a truck which is (HDPE) or (LDPE). I haven't heard of any problems and i intend not to be the first.

                Just my opinion.

Have a good time with you ride.

8 hours at WOT; I would think that in those conditions I would be more concerned with oil consumption. That's the thing about Small engine operated off road equipment. I don't really think there ever was a "SET" MPG or Hours-per-gallon guideline. I think it's generally accepted as have fun, and get something done. Works for me.
It's all just nuts and bolts.

My experience is, the volume of adult beverages consumed has a direct affect on gas mileage, and total hours driven on any given weekend. IE, crank the throttle open and ride day and night

Thanks for the info everyone.I only got out for a couple of hours but it was enough to test the old girl. Deep snow, breaking trail and quite a few slushy spots on the lake. The motor worked great but i was nervous of over heating it.The oil temp was showing 230deg. Haven't a clue what it's supposed to be. installed the tracks in no time this afternoon but when i got back I checked the tires and had 3 flat, all on the corners. I guess the tubes aren't the answer. Can't stand having flat tires on a regular basis.what do u guys think? I don't know tire prices for 22"x10-8 runnamucks, would need 8. Has anyone replaced any lately? My wife loved it, but the dog -- had the runs when we got him back.I hope it wasn't my driving.I'll see if i can get my pics on here soon. Gotta shrink them i guess?Have a good one

Mike that was funny. I have heard some funny stories but, this was different!! Glad i don't have to clean that machine up!!! Glad you had a good time. Future suggestion: leave the dog at home. I've laughed so much my sides hurt. Thanks for the laugh!!
