    Heyas E-K-C,

Yeah, I added on the bigger alternator kit to my Argo Bigfoot 6x6. Plenty of power now for what I want it to do. I did notice a loss of about 1 HP off the motor, but I'm cool with it, as I'm not ridin for speed, just fun and exploration (sight-seein). I now have a set of fog-lights added onto my ride, and can use winch/headlight/foglights all at same time, plus I can have other goodies plugged in...ie, a CB and an electric cooler/heater unit, depending upon what I'm doing. I also feel better about using my 600-900 watt power inverter on it now, with the better alternator, than before I installed it. Now I have a really really really mobile power generator.

I didn't make it, just bought & installed it.

lol, A power generator that can go anywhere.

Not everyone can do this because my clutch is steel.(alot aren't) I welded a pulley to my clutch. Works great. Although I haven't really tested out the power output other then charging the battery and running the lights. But should be the same as a car/truck. Should be able to run head lights, tail lights, turn signals, wiper motor, blower motor, trailer lights, fog lights, radio, dome lights... I shouldnt have a problem. I believe most alternators are generally around 65 amp or something Guy I got this from said it is 100amp. Dont know how to prove it though.

I originally did it for running a trolling motor, haven done that yet. Sometime after the ice melts I may.

I was told I will feel a bog down on motor but I havent. Maybe because not worked the alternator hard yet. But the battery has died from leaving lights on. I just start it with a pull on the rope and it charges it back up. Dont notice a bog there either.

If you do a little looking around, you can find Aluminum pulleys for V-Belts. If you're not set up for aluminum any good welding shop could do it, just make sure it's put on 100% straight and true. I am condidering this for my Wolf, but it's a tight fit behind the clutch, and I really am trying for a stock look, plus the racer comes first

          Mobile Power Generator

Highly mobile power generators are an awesome thing to have.
It comes in handy. It has helped me build a couple of permanent deer stands and a permanent duck blind way out in the middle of BFE. I've also used it to help build a new, completely off-grid home for another friend of mine. It'll run my portable table saw, amongst many other tools.

When I use my power inverter, I leave my Bigfoot running, and it seems to keep up, power wise, all thru the day, and in idle, it doesn't use that much extra fuel and it's very quiet.

If any of you have a bigger/better alternator setup in your machine, you might also think about adding in a power inverter.
At least now, when the power goes out because of a storm, I can fire up my Argo, and just plug right into it. I can keep everything in my fridge/freezer unit, just right, and also run a couple of lights and the TV.

          Keep on Ridin!!!

While getting the Max 4 ready for Ledges 09, I realized the replacement Briggs opposed 18 had a split charging system. 14v ac for lights and 3 amp 12v dc for charging the battery. Not a good solution for night riding at Ledges. The 14v AC lighting is for garden tractor bulbs not the sealed beams on the Max. Found a cheep Delco 1 wire alternator on Ebay. The installation was pretty easy due to the existing PTO on the flywheel.

Looks good, I like how you used the turn buckle to adjust the tension. Great idea!! Sure beats messing with the slots I'm sure.
