  • Tracks on 24" Conquest Tires

Rock Doctor, i was just wondering if you have tried running tracks with the 24 inch frontier tire yet? if so what problems or not have you run into with the tracks? right now i have 22x11-8 cheap princess auto tires on and was wondering due to that i am buying tracks (standard version) for my conquest. just curious as to some of your history with those tires.

    Thanks Darin

    Hi Darin

I have thought about it several times, and even had the tracks laid out once to put on. I'm sure I could get them on (with extra segments), but, at times, I already have issues with ice buildup on the outside of the tracks. The ice buildup on the outside of the track segments will rub/grind against the Argo body.
I decided that tracks already steel enough power, and having bigger tires will only steel more power, plus, I might run into more problems with the ice buildup, so I have not gone to the extra effort to add segments and try it.

So I assume you've stuck a track segment in there to check body clearance, and it clears, but minimally? Maybe a guy could make some out of MuddOx rubber track if it's thinner..

Very minimal clearance, I could not even stick my hand between the segmant and the tub. I think any track in there would drive you crazy, slapping against the tub.

i wonder why argo doesnt put out an aluminum skid plate for the bottom of these machines and have plates that mount above tires on the tub to prevent from wearing right through. every other machine out there has aftermarket aluminum skid plates

I have a great deal of experience trying to slide Aluminium across gravel/rocks. I can tell you that there are not many materials that stick/grab like Aluminium. It's not too bad on something like quads, but when you sheet the bottom of an AATV or Boat, this is just asking for problems. Steel or UHMW type skidplates are much easier to deal with.
