  • Anyone have a PN handy for axle seals?

I'm in the process of going through my 93 argo, and managed to find new chains and bearings locally, I was able to find bearing part numbers on the site but haven't been able to find the seal PN, wondered if anyone had a seal part number or cross reference handy. I havent had it apart yet, are there any other gaskets, or anything else required to seal the axle area?
    Thanks for any help!

Mike, Argo part #605-97 is the aluminum 4 hole bearing housing that comes with 2 axle seals for 1.25" axles. If I remember their around $25

Hi Mike T, i m in the process of changing bearing and seals on my 6 wheels. If your bearing housing are fine dont change them, change only the 2 seals that are inside.

I got some 1 1/4 straight axels, housing number are 605-97 and for this housing number my oil seal number are SKF 12360 (SKF seals) 7$can and CR 12386 (chicago rawhide seals) 7$can. I upgrade to these others brand seals because argo seals were really wimpy at 4$ each, with no spring to retain grease and cannot protect the bearing thruly. I put a little more money on seals to prevent breakdown and for longer life bearing. My seller told me that seals could outlive the bearing, maybe i will save on changing the oil seal next time...i will see how it goes in the futur.

You will also need some gasket flange number 605-89 to seal the bearing in the housing and the housing to the argo body (2 seals per axels) 4$can each. If you want to save a little you could by 2 of them and buy a sheet of gasket matériel and cut ourself some more. I ve done it because my dealer didn t have enough of them. Hope it will help you on your rebuilt.
