  • Question for Conquest owners

Just purchased 2001 Conquest. Has 100 hours on it. When driving around, temperature gauge fluctuates between 200 and 185. Is this normal on a Conquest or possibly thermostat sticking then opening? When idling, runs at 180. I put a temperature gun on thermostat housing - it read 140. Top of rad was also 140 when idling. What temperature are these things designed to run at when its 40 degrees F. outside? Belt on fan is fine, working well.

Any other Conquest owners - tell me what temperature your gauge runs at.

any liquid cooled engine is designed to run at 180 or 190 depending on your thermostat. you might have a temp sender that is reading a bit high. but if it does not go over 200 then i would not be to worried about it.

My Conquest is in about the same range. (180-195). In the warmer months that I don't need the heat in passenger area, I remove the thermostat & put back in when the weather turns cold again. It actually runs cooler that way, for me.

Mine runs more steady at around 185-190, but my dads has always ran like your, climbs up to a little under 200 then drops right back down, 400+ hours on it now.
