Hey fella's, i had my Argo out today with my newly installed 23hp Vanguard and broke the transmission, i am not hard on my machines at all, actually the tranny broke as i was in reverse, it felt like someone hit the gear lever into neutral, anyone ever have this happen?, this is my first experience with repairing a transmission, anything i should look out for??

Mine did that just driving down the trail. Just stopped going forward no grinding or anything. It broke the input shaft in half.

Oh i have a couple kikin around but the one that broke is an HTB, no big deal ill have it up and going this weekend, my machinist told me that to fix a shaft he cuts a hole in each broken piece, puts in a solid roundbar into the holes, then tapers around them and welds it all together, better then new and free lol so i'm not too worried lol

          Broken trans

Hi eightwheeler, i got my share of broken transmission... I got mine dismantaled to find out my input shaft lower gear was worn out. Tranny was gooing out of gear while running in low. I called a Argo dealer about fixing it and he told me that he has to change all of the gear on the top of the tranny. If he only change the broken shaft with a new one, the rest of the gear will not go well ( new gear vs old gear) and the tranny will make noise and could even break again du to different worn parts. So i put my spare one in the hole while i put the money to repair the other one... Hope it could help...

            tranny

you should swap out youre old one for a rebuilt one once you replace all the parts and labor its easier and more cost efficient to buy a rebuilt one from youre Argo dealer.
