      Hard Top

I've been thinking about making the frame out of treated 2x2 . Fastening 1/4" wire to the frame and spraying it with foam. I think it would be very light and warm in side. The foam is paintable and can be shaped to look nice. The doors could be framed and cut out after the foam dried. It should cost less than $500 for a nice top. What do you think???

Wood won't last! Check a local welding shop. I had one made for my Conquest for $400. I bought a piece of plexiglass for a windshield & added a lightweight roof. No doors yet, as I dress warm enough for my comfort. I will add doors, if & when necessary.

          HDPE

SRI in Mooresville, N.C. sells HDPE for $62 for a 4x8 sheet 3/16 thick. It would require a little work but would make a nice top. They also have 3/16 yellow abs 4x8 sheets.

I like the sculpted foam idea, also the doors. Don't know all the different ways to frame it and spray, but it's what I'd be interested in. If the inside was finished to sound deadend, it'd cut the noise that all enclosures seem to have. The thing would need to flex, at least the way
            I drive.

i would have to agree it has to be flexable. I have a fiberglass half top that has a canvas back over the cargo area. AWSOME in the winter time. it also has a "curtain" that drops down behind the seats for just the front seat area if you want to heat a smaller area. hard side removable doors. if your dealing with the cold you need to thicken the fiberglass or reenforce it inside to handle the flex in the winter time so it doesn't stress fracture. in the cold. Oh and don't forget to keep it light so you don't lose your floatability.

I made one out of alum. if you look through my pics, I think I posted pics start to finish. Made two from steel and learned alot before this one. I had soft door made, but don't use them much.
