  • new frontier 6x6 650

I am looking at buying a new frontier 6x6 650 frontier with 3000lb warn winch. Will be using it for plowing snow and hauling wood around my property, and also for moose hunting.I have a quad but everywhere you go you see other quads while hunting so I figure with an argo maybe I can go where they can't and get away from them. Are the new frontiers fairly problem free?If I add tracks, do they just mount over the tires?DO you need to run axle extensions for the rubber tracks.Any advise or experience with the frontier
    6x6 would be helpfull

    thanks

Unless you plan to pull a trailer around everywhere, I would be leaning toward an 8x8, with your description of what you plan to do with it. Just my opinion.
I don't have a Frontier, but I do have a 6x6 and an 8x8. Wood hauling and Moose hunting will be where the 8x8 shines

Ask the argo dealer if the new, bigger argo tire is an option on the frontier. A new frontier 8x with the big tires is what I'd have in mind, if $ was not an issue And give that 23 vanguard a can or two of aftermarket spinach.

the frontier 8x8 with the 23hp briggs, comes with the 24" tires and 9.5" ground clearance. My only concern is it doesn't come with the front and rear bearing extensions.I like the airoil cooled engine, less maintanence and a back up recoil starter. Is the 23hp really under powered.

I meant the bigger, mostly wider, new frontier style tire that will come on avengers.. if you are running tracks maybe you wouldn't want those however..

I am sure the 8 has front axle extensions, I could be wrong. It's no problem to order a vehicle with rear extension housings, or install them later, on any argo.

I think the 23 would do the job, it's more than a conquest had. I didn't mean to say the 23 wasn't enough. Just that there are lots of performance briggs parts.. the average frontier owner wouldn't be interested in voiding the 2 year engine warranty though.

The 8x8 does sound like what you need. The carry capacity is so much better over the 6x6. The Frontier 8x8 does come with front axle extensions, but you can order it with the rear extensions already installed. You'll also want to order it with the optional skid plate (only comes standard on the 6x6). I have seen some special deals on the Frontier 8x8 selling at a very low price. I haven't been a dealer with them for a while so I'm not sure how long that promotion was going on.

I bought the 8x8 frontier 650. Hauled 6 adults and pulled an ice fishing shack. No problem. the 23 horse has all the power I need. I bought the 8x8 because there isn't room in the 6x6 to haul much.

I,m pretty sure that your the only one on the forum with an 8x8 Frontier. I,m looking forward to hearing how it performs as you get it broke in.

I'm planning to attend some upcoming poker derbies, to see how it runs in the mud. I will post the results.

I am also now looking at the frontier 8x8,it doesn't come with front or rear bearing extensions, how much do these help?I would add the skid plate and winch right away.

I would recommend them. Even with them, I still manage to bend a front axle once in a while. Also, if you want to run tracks at all, they help alot with that.

                      I would put them on.

The front bearing extenders come standard. Mine came with factory installed skid plate, bilge, winch, and hitch. The dealer told me he orders all his machines with these options.
