  • Tru trax breakage

I have been running tru trax on my max Iv for three winters and have had no problems until now. This winter, I found two sections with the side guides broken off. They were right next to each other, and I noticed it when I got a flat tire and threw the tracks. I replaced them and thought nothing of it, figuring that the they were broken at that time. Later, I was driving and heard a thump and noticed that another guide had broken off, on the other track. On inspection, I found 4 more track sections broken in the same way. Does anyone else have experience on this. They were used tracks that came with the machine, is age taking it's toll on the plastic? Tire pressure problems or a slightly bent axle?

    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi Matt,

I don't know anything about Max's, or their tracks but I do have some experience with Argo Tracks.
If it was an Argo I would suggest that it might be from running the edge of the track over or along a ridge or rut. In this case the weight of the argo will push down on the edge of the track, causing it to twist. The twist causes the track guides to drive into the sidewalls of the tires, or even into the rim. It's not too uncommon to have a track guide push a tire off the bead.
