  • 83 argo tracks?

    First time poster.

Can I put tracks on a 1983 8x8 Argo? Doesn't seem to be much clearance between the tires and body. Do I need to do anything special?

Also can I put a snowplow on said Argo?

    Thanks!

Has anyone ever put tracks on an Argo as old as an 83? If so how do they fit? Anything special have to be done?

      Thanks!

Yes, Standard tracks will fit, (I assume you have Runamucks on, for tires?).
If you want to get a tiny bit more clearance between the tracks and the body, you can put a washer or two on each stud, behind your rims. If you want lots of clearance, you can put in the Supertrack spacers.
Keep in mind that tracks are hard on bearings and axles, and you probably don't have bearing extensions on your front and rear axles. I just pulled my tracks off my Conquest, and ended up changing 6 out of the 8 outer brngs ( and I never put many hours on it this winter).

As for the plow, I know it can be done, it's just a matter of how you want to do it

          Watpress,

I just bought an 84' argo and it came with tracks that I used all winter with no problem. I also am looking at putting a plough on my argo this fall.
