  • Conquest engine heat.

Has anyone made some type of baffles or shields to keep the hot air from the engine from blowing through the firewall on a Conquest? We went for a ride yesterday and there’s a lot of heat coming from the engine. Not bad at all if its chilly, but it will be a problem in the summer.

At that point I usually lay the windshield flat. Argos are always hot behind the windshield. This is where the cold beer is needed. Make sure you mount the cup/beer holder high and outboard on the dash.

      I like your thinking

It looks like I can add a baffle to redirect the heat from the radiator more towards the side vent. I'm not sure how much heat is coming from the brakes, but I'll see.

my bigfoot does put off some heat but if you keep the windshield off and keep it moveing its not bad. Im not liquid cooled so some of the heat may be comeing from that.

I also remove the windshield on my Conquest for the summer, that helps, but I still find myself riding with sandles on my feet for long rides. It's better than feeling your boots filling with sweat

My windshield does not fold down, its bolted to the roll cage. Theres' a pretty big gap between the upper and lower body on the left side where a lot of hot air comes in. The radiator is just free to blow the hot air across the engine without much guidance from baffles. I think I'll just add a defelctor to push the heat out the side vent. I'll take some pictures as I progress.
