  • Argo brng and seals change "how to vid"

I pulled my tracks off the other day, and found that I had 6 loose outer axle bearings. A couple of them were not too bad, and all of them would have been fine for a while. However, I had the parts and (I thought) a bit of time, before I was supposed to go for a ride with friends, so I replaced them. I ended up in a bit of a hurry. You won't find any white shop coats and clean hands in this vid, but if you want to see how to change a brng and seals on an Argo, you can check it out.
Yes, I know my shop AND my Argo are a mess right now

I found it suprisingly difficult to make this vid, but I think it turned out OK. I think I covered most of it, but did miss tightening the inner brng setscrews.

          Nicely done Rock
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

What no swearing, no rusted bolts that won't come out, no busted tools or knuckles, I think this was faked! Seriously though great job on the video. It's stuff like this that makes this site the best

LOL, I have this thing apart so often, bolts don't have a chance to rust

Unlike my 6x6, that I started working on today. It sat outside, under about 4' of snow all winter. I was amaized that it even started. I don't use it often, so it has plenty of time to weld itself all togeather.

Glad you guys like the vid, I only held my buddies up for about 20 minutes before I was ready to go. I pulled the tracks off and changed 6 outer axle brngs in just under 3 hrs. (they chipped in to help finish up).

                    video

Doc, as much as you work on yours, you could probably set up a camera, and sell DVD's if you were to get serious about it. I know I'd buy one.

                      Thanks Dennis

I've had it mentioned to me before, but the whole idea is a little intimidating. It's really more work than I would have thought. I had a real bugger of a time trying to get the Brng/Seal change vid down to 10 minutes, and I didn't put everything in that I feel should have been there. It's something I will keep in mind, but for now, I will just take "requests" and see how I do.

So, what would you like to see next?? Doing the Brng/Seal vid was an easy choice, there are always Threads/Questions about changing Brngs. What other topic do you think comes up often enough to make a "How To" vid on it?

lol, Good One. I think I just spit pop on my keyboard. haha

Sorry, I can't believe I never videoed that when I had such a good opertunity. I was very tired at that point, and probably not thinking too clearly. For you, I will make that vid, but it might be a Moose instead of a Buff. Some day, Some time, I will do that fore you.

Excellent Job with the video..Just having a video available is enough to build a little courage before you attempt the job yourself..Thanks for this..

                              chain changing

Doc, I'd like to see one on how to change out chains. I have no clue. I understand after so many hours it's pretty mandatory they have to be changed, so that may be one you could consider. OR put the bearing change & the chain change on one DVD. I guess tho you would NEED to have it done before you did such a thing haha. Of course if you made one, I'd pay for it if you wanted to sell it.
