A friend of mine told me that he did that once. I did not see the finished product, but he said it worked perfectly.

He cut the bottom off a donor Argo, then notched out where the axles would go.
He set the donor skid plate on a concrete floor, pulled the wheels off his machine and hoisted his argo over top and set it down on the skidplate.
Then he filled his Argo with water, to press it down into the skidplate securly.
After that it was just a matter of drilling and bolting the 2 tubs togeather (not sure if he used bolts or rivets). I assume he bolted them togeather, one hole at a time, with the Argo still full of water. Not sure if he had to pull his motor and trans (don't know how much water he had to use).
He said the tub drains did not line up perfectly, and that it would be better if the "Skidplate" had it's drain holes opened up a bit before mounting it to the Argo.
    That's the story.

If you do try it, could you post some pics? I would like to see how it works out for you.
