  • new argo owner :) question about trolling motor

we just bought a 1992 argo with plow, full top, winch and in great condition except for the tires that are pretty worn.
i have a motor guide 75 thrust 24/36 trolling motor i took off of our pontoon bopat and was wondering if this would be worth adding to the argo and if so what do i need to make it all work.i have a gator mount that was used with the boat.thanx

What model Argo? 6 or 8?
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

        Outboard motor

If you are thinking about a outboard you will need a motor with a long shaft generally called a sailboat motor. Look at the mounts for the Conquest that should fit. It is a pretty simple setup. The Avenger has a side mount and with a little tweaking it would fit. Does your have a rear hitch receiver?

            Mount

Any argo dealer should be able to fix you up with one. Here are two examples. The motor on the back of the Avenger is a 9.9 hp 4 stroke. That thing uses hardly any gas to operate. A 5 or 7 hp will carry you a long ways. You will not set any water speed records even with the outboard but i moves along pretty good. Hope this helps.
