  • Tracks what type do you have?

I was wondering what kind of tracks to you use, (hard plastic or rubber)? I have a set of hard plastic tracks and I like them. Have not used them a hole lot this past winter had to replace bearings and other PMS items.

So here is why I ask. With the terrain here in kodiak you leave the road and you are on rocky gravel trail for 2 miles then it turns to snow with some river crossings, travel 12 miles in the snow (some places fairly deep) then you are back to the rocky trail again, and the beach. Did that once last year with the tracks and put allot of wear and tear on the tracks messed up an axle, and head to drive out 17 miles on 5 tires. I was wondering is the rubber track can take the rock/gravel better then the hard plastic tracks. Would like to get in to some of the place to hunt in the winter were the four wheeler cant go.

    Thanks for the input.

well i have tried all 3 types of tracks and it really really depends on the machine and its setup, you cant take an Argo from the 80's, throw a set of super tracks on it and not expect to loose performance or break something, Argo's from the 90's were a bit better, you had axle extensions splined axles B&S Vanguards hydraulic brakes, they held up a bit better with the big supertracks, Argo's from 2000's are much better and can handle any track. But back to your question, out of all 3.... rubber tracks are thee best all around, they are quiet, they dont have flat spots every foot, they grab rock, they are soft so they form around objects better, etc.

thanks. i have a 2000 bigfoot, just wondering if it would be worth spending the money for the rubber track would be justified, and not a waste.
