  • Factory defect

Picked up my frontier 650 8x8 today. It was in the shop to replace the sheared off studs on the idler shaft bearing holder. The mechanic informed me that ODG knew there was a problem with the studs on some 2009 units, and could tell from my machine ser.# that it was one of them. Sad that ODG hadn't sent notice to dealers to correct problem before units were sold. I don't know of any other owners that experienced this problem, but I want to give you guys a heads up.

ODG has obviously sent out a heads up to the dealers because the mechanic knew there was a problem. If the part does not fail there is no cost to ODG. If it does fail, then the owner takes it into the shop for repairs under warranty. It does not mean the customer is not p----- off and probably takes a strip off the dealer. It is very likely up to the dealer to replace the parts before failure or wait for a claim. Hopefully ODG has resolved the problem.

The mechanic told me he was informed of the defect by ODG when he phoned to order the parts. I took him on his word......no lie detector test administered
