  • Brake pads clicking

My brake pads on my 05 avenger are making a noticeable clicking sound. I know it is because of the access holes in the brake discs, but this is actually annoying when you are driving it. ALso, the pads are rattling around pretty good, they also make a smacking sound when I engage them. You guys find that also on your machines? Is it worse when the pads wear down a bit?

I doubt it is anything serious but thought I would ask.

I have never noticed it at all on my argo bigfoot. I have 350 hours and it still sounds the same in the break area. you may have something wrong if you are being annoied while driving

Haven't had any problem, are they adjusted to the proper gap. .010 gap between rotor and pad and if pad is worn over 1/8 inch they need replacing. That is what the manual states.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

Hmmm, now that could be the problem. I'd say without looking and measuring that it is at least 1/8 inch gap. I'll check it out. Thanks guys..

          Clicking pads

If you can give me a vin number there is a update part for the avenger your dealer should have contacted you about. It is a clip that goes on the caliper and stops the noise.

I don't think the caliper is loose on the gearbox. I'll check. I think the problem will be solved with those clips pieces. Its not a big deal as I don't think it is hurting anything, only a bit annoying to hear those clicks all the time,

              My VIN is 23131

Anyone come across whether their avengers have that clip on the brake calipers that we talked about?

My 04 Avenger had the same problem when it was new. There was an update from Argo that came out around mid 05. This was the "Clip" mentioned earlier. When installed, these greatly reduced the click click. Some time around 06 the brake caliper and brake disc changed and the noise went away.

                    Help!

I received my brake clip kit the other day and was going to install them tonight. I am having a hard time installing them. Do they go toward the front or the back of the brake caliper? I think it is pretty self-explanitory how they are installed (I "think" anyway) but they do not seem to want to slide down infront of the brake pads. I even tried to tap them in but there is no way they should be that tight.

did you guys run into any problems?

Looks like my new brake pads are slightly larger than the original ones, thus making the brake clips too tight.I ground the clips down a bit and they work awesome.

Man I hated that clicking noise from the brakes......its all gone now!
