Rumbling noise

Hi Guys;
I have a 2007 Argo Avenger with 115 hrs of use. Lately I hear a rumbling noise whe the machine gets up to a speed of approx 5 km/hr, but when reaching a speed of approx10 km/hr & higher it disappears. I do regular maintenance & the axles don't have any in or out or sideways movement.
Anyone ever have this problem?
Any input would be appreciated

Does it make this "Rumbling Noise" when reved up in Neutral ? If so you may have tranny issues!

How does the tranny oil look on the dipstick? Is it on the dipstick? Is it clean? Have you ever changed it?

I just ask these questions because thats exactly what I went through after getting my 2000 Argo BigFoot,,, Mine would do,,, what I called a "Growling Noise" it would do it when in gear, Driving and in Neutral also when reved up. It had 315 hrs on it when I got it,,,but someone had been in the tranny before!,,, Good Luck,,,,Mark

Rumbling Noise

When I rev the transmission in neutral it is okay. The oil is clean, I change it at the required intervals. I also checked the idler shaft bearings & found no movement in them. Have you ever seen a axle bearing go without having any movement in axle?

What I found out was the Idler shaft bearings were difficult to check,,,the brake pads,,hold the brake disk, being attached to the idler shaft,,,prevents or masks any Idler bearing problems,,,once my brake pads,,and chains were removed,,,, Aaaahhh,haa then is when I found the problem (bad idler shaft),,,the brake pads where holding the brake disc,,in place,,preventing the idler shaft from any noticably movement when trying to check it.
Of corse once the pads were off I could see the pads all worn ,,and then the shaft was Floppy in place.

What looked like to us,,someone had obviously been in this tranny,,,old silicone,,old bearing/gear gouges in case cover,,and even what looked like they put the worn out idler shaft back in,,,,,NICE! ,,But all the bearings were contaminated with old oil and filings from somewhere,,all were rough when spun by hand,,,got all new bearings,,9 (I think),cleaned everything up,,,my son fixed the bad shaft in school(Machine/Tool) and so far so Good.

Now this was on my 2000 Argo BigFoot machine,,which has the 2 Brake levers to steer,,,your machine is newer and has a bit different setup!

I have not had a axel bearing out yet on my machine.

I have no knowledge but I got the rumble , on and off, sometimes when I am slowimg from high speed. People who have much experience say to remove the spark arrestor,likely in pieces. Before it gets back into a cylinder. If you do, please let us know.

Problem found

I decided to loosen both idler chains to further check the idler shaft bearings, everything seemed fine so I tightened the idler chains, spun the wheels & the rumble was gone. Probably had the chains a little too tight. Going for a test ride on Saturday.

Test run completed

Gave the argo a test run on Saturday, on land and in water, everything was good,no rumble. Thought I would let you guys know.
