  • No Drive to right tires

I just took my 1986 6 wheeler for a swim and besides a big leak up front on the left side I found I had no drive on the right side. It would just pull a tight circle to the left once it was floating. Anyone got any ideas about what might be wrong. Transmission is identified as # 12644CHK. Thanks.

It was getting stuck in the snow pretty easy. The idler chain on the right side always has slack in it. even after adjustment.

Well with a differantial design, no power on the right side would mean that the brakes on the left arent working? Maybe brakes stuck on right? Im just giving idea's as I dont know argos that well. You mentioned the chain, make sure its still on. I think there is brake adjustments. I would love to help out more but.........

Someone with an argo will chime in Im sure. Good luck!

Was thinking, you mean no spinning at the wheels at all or are they spinning but its not turning right?

do you have something binding up on right side?bad bearing maybe?if something drags the right side(in water) all power goes to left.have you tried "dragging"the left brake when it does this?HTH
You never know till you try it

                sounds like a binding brake?.
on land will work as normal.
when you swim it if the l/h wheels not turning ,gently pull on the r/h brake and will force drive to l/h.
what kind of brakes have you got.mech or hydro
can you jack all the wheels off the ground to see if somethings sticking ,
or can you rock the brake discs to see if ones binding
have you just changed or adjusted brakes,

No drive on right should make Argo circle to the RIGHT????? You are going to need to tell us the details, Leaning can cause tight circles in the water regardless of which wheels are turning especially if "BIG LEAK UP FRONT LEFT SIDE" is letting water in and making the left side heavier? Do both laterals spring foreward?
