Is that the lakebed west of I-95? Every time we've driven by there, we've wondered what it was like to ride there.

Yes, this is just before Boulder City, as you leave Las Vegas, heading toward Laughlin on 95.

When it's dry, it is regularly used by those newer to ATV'ing. Lots of little kids on kiddie-quads, and mini-dirt bikes.

Great story and I love that towards the end of that clip you could barely see you or the Argo for the constant splash around you. Great pictures too!

Hi,

I just wanted to share our fun from today.
My Wife, Shin, and I went to the Eldorado Dry Lakebed, which reverted to it’s prehistoric state after yesterday’s all-day rain!

Talk about FUN!
We went into some smaller puddles first to test it out. We got so drenched that we decided to just go for it and go into the middle of the “lake”.
After about 20 seconds, Shin “tapped out”, so I brought her back to the shore and she grabbed the camera.
The Argo didn’t even TRY to get stuck! It just kept on going…

Right before we left, I noticed a guy in a 3 wheeler trying to go through…
About 100 feet in, his machine quit on him… so I drove in to winch him out (backwards).
Still, didn’t get stuck.

We didn’t even think we had taken on any water until we pulled the Bilge Pump knob.
I took out the floor pan to find about 4-5 inches of muddy water!
It all came in through the cooling intake and exhaust grills… well, and probably the interior too, being that we were COMPLETELY drenched from head to toe.
We had to come home because the wind was too cold and strong to continue while we were soaking…

All you have to do is to let it run idle for about 30 seconds. This will allow the excess gas to burn off. Then turn the key. Try it, and let me know how it goes...

Annoying as heck.
My wife and I do this thing when we shut off the engine...
We turn the key off, wait... wait... then we say "POP"!

80% of the time it does it on que!
LOL.

Does the new 23 HP vanguard have the same backfireing problem as the previous 18 hp when stopping the engine?

So, is chain slack ok at the center axles? I get a lot of chain "slap", hitting the bottom of the floorpan. The ratchet/tensioners are adjusted as much as possible.

Ok, honestly, do I just need to relax and not worry about this issue? Is it normal?

How do I remove the chain slack from the front axle chains? There are no tensioners!

I have been thinking about the same mod. That's just polly>>>> whatever it its right? Basically the same stuff as a cutting board out of the kitchen! I have some of that at work for the slides on the wrecker. I'm buying a sheet of 3/8" for the bottom of my skid plate on my Jeep. No more hanging up on rocks!
The hydro tensioner idea would be great too! I see someone has replaced lots of Ford timing chains too!

Chain Tensioner Mod..

Hi,
I just did a really easy and effective mod for the center wheels chain tensioner. I added a "helper spring" to the original spring that lifts the plastic block to give chain tension. It's the small coil-type "puller" spring that's attached to the frame member and the original spring...
So far, it works great... but is untested as of yet. I'll let y'all know if it holds

How do I add a video clip? I have a question and want to show my unresolved chain tension problems...
