Welding Frame

I was lucky to get a few hours to work on the project. This is what I got done. Frame cracked on tub side next to idlers. Put in 1/4 x 1 in. Steel and welded both sides and crack on reverse. Cut out back of frame and tacked in 1/4 x 4 in. flat. Then power went out (it's been really windy today). I hope this isn't a message because I'm to stuburn to quit . Some pics. Tim100_0710.jpg

Real handy sawhorses. Got a pair myself. I pulled my 83 6x6 down to the same situation you have. There were some small cracks at the floor hold down holes I welded. I also welded in a 3 inch wide by whatever the width of the frame is 1/4 plate to re-enforce the hitch area. As I had no floor pan I got a piece of 4mm scrap from work and welded that to the bottom of the frame most of the length and all the width.

Looks good!! If your frame doesn't already have the mounting tabs for a winch hoop, now would be a good time to add them.

so I got the uprated 1987 Conquest. I can confirm it got the bearings extenders, the solid axles and the brakes cooler. No clue about the short stick something.

It's an upgrade for me ! Master cylinder on top of trany, KB was at the bottom of trany therefore short sticks. Tim

My Argo is a 1985 KB model. It has solid axles, master cylinders on top of the tranny, a brake fan, double 50 chain, and a full length skid plate. Does the NKB just mean it has front bearing extenders?

Maybe someone in the know about the different Argo models will jump in here to help you out. Mine has a full skid plate also. I am not sure what year the front axle extenders came about ? Tim

Hey Tim, in a previous post of yours i put that you have an Argo Magnum, they started in 1988, hydraulic brakes with short levers, splined axles, axle extensions,full skid plate, guage package, brake blower and seperate exhaust from the hot air exit are all standard
