What are the part numbers for bearings/seals? 99 argo response

I've got a bad bearing on my 99 Argo Response 18HP. its the outter rear axle bearing and my machine is not equipped with the optional rear axle extensions.

I'd rather not buy through argo just because the prices are much higher and the distributor is an hour from me. But, If i have to, does argo sell a complete axle rebuild kit?

I can't seem to find anywhere online the part number or dimensions for that bearing. I plan to do both bearings on that axle and change the seal(s). Are there 2 seals? and what are the part number or dimensions on that/those seal(s).

Once you remove the axle assemble, you will find the numbers on the bearings and seals. They will be a common # to most, if not all bearing manufacturer's. Most automotive shops, machine shops, Ideal Supply(if they are in your area) or any manufacturing supply house will either have them in stock or next day order or you can try online for bearing suppliers. The numbers may be hard to read but will be there.The #'s will be on the side of the bearing either on the seal of the bearing or near the outside diamater and on the outside near the sealing lip of the seal. A supply house will probably be more economical and may have more than one supplier to them. Hope this helps.

yes I certainly could take the parts out and get the numbers that way. sorry i forgot to mention i want to have the bearings on hand when i take it apart becuase I keep it at my parent's farm and thats an hour away. I'd rather have the parts handy if possible. hopefully someone here has the sizes handy. I have some good contacts to get parts from. i am an industrial electrician and change bearings all the time on large motors and have good company discount at wholesalers.

ok so just a FYI

I did a little research, a UC206-20 is the outter bearing which is a 1-1/4" shaft and a setscrew locking flange- very available in a number of brands. The inner bearing is a UC206-16 which is a 1" inside diameter. I haven't been able to locate a source for the inner bearings yet. seems like most manufacturers make the 16 (which refers to the inner bore=1 inch) in a 205... I seem to think the 205 refers to the outside diameter so a 205 is too small for the existing flanges so I will keep looking. the 200 series are the self aligning hents the curved outter diameter seating in the flange.

edit: sized it up, UCX05-16 for the inners

I'm glad you came up with some #'s. My inner and outer bearings are the same. I replaced all the bearings and seals, idler shaft bearings included along with chains and new axles. Hopefully for your sake( and your wallets) you only have the one to do.

I am looking at a brand new outter bearing UC206-20 in my hand. costed me $5.42. UCX05-16 was not in stock but I'll have one of those in my hand monday for $16.32. Argo wanted $45 and $32 respectively (which doesn't make much sense)

smog, yes canada. Winnipeg. I'm going to call my supplier and ask him what your price will be. I'm not sure that he'd honor this price to everyone because my company buys a lot of materials through him and I received the associated discount. however I'm sure he'd strive to be your supplier and prices would be very competative. will be in touch.

I am putting on some new axle bearings today on my 2000 Argo BigFoot,,I cant find any bearing here in CT. anywhere close to what you guys are buying them for,,cheapest I have found,,,,
Browning bearing # VS-220S $27.43
Seals
Timken #471737 $4.36 (bigger seal)
Timken #471413 $4.03 (smaller seal, both seal same shaft size,,out diam different)
I checked Napa,,, could'nt cross the bearing #,,want $7 and $8 for each seal,,
Advanced Auto parts wanted $35 each bearing, could get the seals,,had to order all,,,1 week wait!

If you don't have a source as Bloodvette has, and you want high quality bearings , you will probably have to bite the bullet and pay the big bucks ( which could be 25.00 compared to 45.00). Offshore, a.k.a. china, bearings are much less money but is the quality there???? I used the cheaper ones because at the time that's what I could afford and my actual running time on the machine will be very low. I also had to factor in the price verses the change out time for MY circumstance. After I bought all my bearings, I found a still better place just down the road at a Minnonite sawmill. Bearings , chain ,seals, all cheaper in price but lower quality. Mostly, you only get what you pay for.

I hear ya there,,,The Browning Bearings do look high quality for sure, The place where I got the Bearings has been in business for years, selling quality stuff,,,and I did'nt want to start mis-matching with odd bearings and seals from other manufacturer's.

my 1987 conquest NKB also have the 1¼" inner bearings; the UCx05-16 are for 1" shafts... no go for my 8x8

I should get my outer bearings from SASBearings soon; I'll see if the outer and the inner are the same.

currently, the inner inserts are FAFNIR RA103-2 with cheapo steel flange 2 and 4 bolts (mixed so I guess as the bearings died, the guy changed them with whatever was available locally)
