  • track options for a 8x8 conquest

hey i am looking for help on what my 2004 8x8 20HP conquest can turn.
i am seen the rubber tracks and would love to buy some. but i am not sure if my machine can turn them.. anyone selling them will tell me "sure it will work"
but they just want to make the sale... but then at the same time i would like to buy the standard tracks. they and nice a narrow and i would be able to ride without the wheel spacers in..
any advice for me at all would be great

I only have a 6x6 but I also have the 18 inch super tracks and they are awesome. Not that good on pure ice but in the snow they are great. I have the 18 horse briggs and it does a fine job with power but I only run in low range with the tracks on. Hope this helps

I have the standard tracks on my response which is an 18 horse and I can feel them dropping the power somewhat, but it goes fine enough.

You will feel a loss of power on the Conquest with the super tracks. I have a set for my Conquest and feel it makes the machine way under powered. I mostly run with a set of after market tires/wheels.

I was always under the impression that the supertracks were THEE largest load you can put on. next would be regular tracks, and easiest running being the rubber tracks. can anyone verify?

heavy and so they would give me even more power problems then?
i think i will just put metal cleats on the super tracks i have now.. and also get a set of normal tracks. and be happy with that.

have a look at what this French Canadian made to a set of super tracks :

Now thats what I'm talkin about! Those are some bad a$$ tracks. I wonder if they have any trouble with the cleats rubbing under the tub??? If not that would be the ticket. Just the factory ice cleats leave alot to be desired.

An Argo dealer in Colorado builds an add-on kit like this out of angle. On machines that do not have a clearance problem you can get the cleats so they extend across the entire track and beyond; to which is attached what looks like bailer belt for a wider track. On machines that do have a clearance issue they sell six inch cleats that ride on the outboard section of the supertracks.

They include a tab about half way across so the cleats do not act like skis (or ice skate blades) on sidehills.

Their enhancement is reported to work very well in deep snow. Many (most?) of their backcounty cabin customers have them.

The design is based on the Centaur tracks.

I saw these and wondered if a cleat across like this would go a ways to solving RD's concern of guides twisting into the tires and causing havoc.

I think the top design would be great for ice. I think the angle option might give better snow shovel action. ???

I asked if a person could go every other track section. I was told that a person could but would not like the constant washboard ride.

the guy who made the first set with the channel iron reported that washboard ride already but said the traction is simply incredible
