  • 6x6 tracks on an 8x8

Is it possible to put a set of 6x6 tracks on an 8x8. Would you leave the two front or the two rear not tracked also have anyone done this and how were the results. I am looking for a set of 8x8 but they are scarce used? Any or either king in Southern Ontario for sale call me 416 706-3664 thx

Typically "half-tracks" are aranged with the tracks on the rear tires. As to the chance of doing this will depend on what machine you have. Maybe someone with experience in this will weigh in.
DESTRUCTION is just a couple of vowels down the street from DISTRACTION

        SUMMER TIME
Track the front 3 wheels, or just the middle 2. The middle 2 tracked works about 80% as good as full tracks. The front 3 wheels works somwhere in between.

        WINTER TIME
        Full tracks or stay home

one benefit of tracking the center wheels is the added height; it will be a lot easier to turn than a set of full tracks as the front and rear wheels shouldn't touch the ground on hard surfaces.

            Problem I can see..

The only problem I can foresee with only doing half or 3/4 of the tires is that it would be harder on the drive train.. You are trying to get some wheels to lag or catch up to others.. Very hard on direct drive systems...
