Hey guys, This is my first post, but i have been lurking and reading for a while. I just bought a new to me conquest, not sure of the year, but it has a kawasaki twin if that helps. Anyhoo, i have noticed that the machine doesnt like to turn as well as it should. It seems like sometimes the transmission does not want to break power to one side. Does this sound like a bad diff in the trans? I am curious as to whether or not there is an adjustment or something that might help this problem. If it helps i noticed last night that the plastic buttons are missing out of the ramp valleys in the secondary clutch, dont know if that would make a difference or not, seems like that would affect back shifting more than anything. Thanks in advance for the help.

If I'm not mistaken, All Conquests have the 20hp Kawi.
I can't say I've tried running without the plastic slider buttons, but I fully agree that without them your backshift WILL be effected. This probably would effect turning, if your clutches don't backshift, you might not have the power to turn. Does it feel like the engine is "Bogging Down" when you try to turn, or does it feel more like the brakes are not working? It could be as simple as oil on the brakes from lubing the idlers.
There is no adjustments for the trans, it is nothing more than an "Open Diff"
First thing I would do is replace the plastic slider buttons, and spray some "Brake Clean" on the brake pads to clean them up.
Hope that helps, keep us in the loop and let us know what you come up with.
