Someone out there must know of some good secrets of how to change oil in a Conquest without letting it out into the hull. I was going to change mine today but instead I thought getting some advise from this forum might save me a lot of washing out time. Every thing seems a lot easyer if you ask.

You can drain it into a plastic bag, You can suck the oil out through the "Dip Stick" hole with a small pump mounted to a cordless drill. I have an old "Shopvac", and just suck up the oil as it comes out the drain hole.
Some guys like to put a small valve in the drain hole, so they can run a drain line out through the back of the tub drain.
Seems to be a few ways to do it
.
Hope that helps

Thanks for the tips ,after reading and then thinking for a wile I've decided to have a go at sucking it out through the drain plug. One day when its drained I think I'll install a drain valve in the sump, that sounds too good to be left . I'd love to pop up and go for a spin through the bush tracks with you but 10,000 k's is a bit too far for a weekend. Keep the vidio shots cumming ,it makes realy good viewing, as soon as I figure out how to post shots onto this site i'll send some of my own (steep and slippery). Thanks PaulTHE KIWI

It ROCKS. I use a piece of tubing and snake it right down the dipstick tube.
The steps are super easy, and FAST.
1. Run the engine for a while to warm the oil, shut it down.
2. Yank the dipstick and insert tubing on pump inlet until it bottoms out.
3. Hook the pump up to the battery, and throw the switch, Igor (What hump?). In about 30 seconds, the oil is OUT.
4. Fill with clean oil, and remember to put the dipstick back in.
Total job is less than 3 minutes, tops. My time savings alone is worth the $32.
Another benefit is you can use the pump for lawn mowers, snow throwers, and any other small engines you have.
I'm not real keen on drain valves at the bottom of crankcases. Shoot, I barely trust drain plugs.
With my luck, I'd get a crack in a fitting, or it would vibrate open. By the time I noticed my engine had overheated, my rod bearings would be fried, or WORSE.
Of course, we all know that stuff only happens when your wife and kids are along, at night, about 80 miles in the bush, deep in grizzly country.

i dont much like the idea of the oil in the lower tub either. i took my machine to the dealer up this way for them to check out the throttle assbly and they decided to change oil while it was in there. they drained the oil in the tub.not something i want to have to clean again. i dont understand how some company can be so looped to even think of doing that and then leaving the oil in the tub for me to spread in the backcountry??

I bought a drill pump for $25 and it sucked out the oil in about 90 seconds. The sump holds 1.8 liters and I managed to suck out 1.6 litres. After an effort like that I don't think I'll bother about putting a drain valve on the sump because sucking out through the dip stick hole was too good to be true.A few tips though 1 prime the pump and suck line and 2 warm the engine up first (the pump didn't suck cold oil).THE KIWI

here ya go
bought this after having it recommended by our dealer here in Anchorage. Couple pumps, the thing sucked all the oil out in less than 5 minutes with no mess whatsoever. stick the tube down the dipstick hole and you're in business. Carquest sells these here in Anchorage so imagine if you have a local Carquest, you could obtain from there. If we can get it in Anchorage, you should have no problems elsewhere."Let's Roll" when he used to wake me up in the mornings for school in the 50's.
