Hello all I've been thinking of an Argo again, I had a 03 Conquest 6 wheeler and I've missed it since I sold it, it had all the goodies. Now I see Argo here in Canada has a promotion on for the Frontier 480 for $7995, I sold my old one for a lot more than that and I think it's a great opportunity to get back into one. I will be using it mostly for fishing and ice travel. I would like your thoughts on these new generation Argos and in particular the 480, Thanks.

The 480 is a 14 hp. The 5?? is 18, the 650 23hp.

Do you guys think the 480 is too underpowered? I want to have the option of putting tracks on someday too. I'm not a real power hungry type a guy.

For tracks you should have bearing extension housings on the axles. There are none on the 14, front only on the 18, and front and rear on the 23 I think. They can be added to any model I think. 14 is too little for tracks. You might have to run low range.

Take one for a test drive. If the dealer doesn't have a test ground they will probably have a steep ditch to navigate. Take a friend or the salesman and see how much power it has. If you're happy with the performance its the machine for you. I bought the 650 8x8. I wanted the carrying capacity. The 6x6 cargo capacity didn't cut it. The 23 horse in the 650 has lots of power, seldom use low range.

The 650 (23hp) doesn't cost a whole lot more but you will be a lot happier with it. The 14hp is way too small for a Frontier. Plus, with the 23hp model you get the full skid plate along with front and rear bearing extensions.

thanks for the advice guys looks like I'm going to end up with a 2009 580 in blue my favorite color, skid plate, hitch, bilge pump, and windshield! It's a show/ demo with 2.5 hours and will end up costing me $200 more than a new 480 equipped the same way, should be a done deal by tomorrow...

Sounds like you got the machine that you were looking for and at a great price!! See if you can get some pics up.. I think with this machine, you won't have a problem with tracks on it eiether..

Didn't do the Argo Promotion But!!!

Hey Guys I was about to take advantage of the Argo promotion for a deal on a Frontier 580 when after a lot of reading I decided to get a 8 wheeler instead to get the extra room that I figure will come in handy. Since the $price$ of a new 8 wheeler was out of the question I figured I'd watch for a good used one, well I found one, 2000 Conquest with 60 one owner hours, has a winch and trolling bracket now but I will be adding a whole bunch more... lots of fishing, ice travel for ice fishing and hunting in it's future! Here is a couple of pics of it still at the dealership

It was at the dealership on consignment. I Paid $7500 Canadian, not sure if that's a deal but it is in good unmolested condition.
