  • oil changing the 8x8 conquest

with all the advise from the forums here i did the first oil change since i gained ownership. what worked well for me was oil plug removal into a zip lock freezer bag and had minimal spillage! but now for some reason it doesnt shift in gear without some light grinding of the gears? is it because of the higher idle?( used full synthetic oil 5-30 )i did try to take photos of the prosses with my 400$ cell that i dropped in the engine bay, now coverd in oil and not a pic to be had!lol

If it's "grinding" into gear, then your secondary clutch is turning. see if you can get that idle back down just a bit.
Mine also idles just a bit high, and will grind into gear if I'm not paying attention. But on mine, I just have to "bump" the throttle and it will idle down.

the synthetic 5 w 30 is probably allowing for a little less friction resulting in a bit higher idle, like RD said try turning it back down to where it was. I use to shift into reverse 1st then low or high to ease the grinding a bit too.
