  • ARGO vehicle differences

    Hey all!
I'm still out there looking at the different units, leaning towards a used ARGO.
Can someone tell my the differences between the older (say pre 2002 or so) ARGO's.
I see the Avenger, the Frontier and the Conquest out there (there may be more that I have not found yet).
I did a search here at 6x6 for manuals to look at, but didn't find any.
Does anyone have any ARGO pdf manuals they can pass along?
I did find a ARGO Conquest Parts Manual online covering units after serial# 23216. Not sure what year that would be.
    thanks...ed

    Manuals

    Howdy,

I don't remember her full name but if you will contact OGD in Canada, I think it is Kathy, will email you the PDF file for what you need. Someone here will chime in with her email address soon.

    Good Luck,

    Randy

      thanks Randy.
I'll give her a call when the number comes in.
You would think they would have all the manuals on their website.

Though I settled on a Max rather than an Argo I did do a fair amount of looking at Argos and I certainly think they are a fine machine. The late model pluses are: upgraded power (23 hp. available in the Frontier) as well as handlebar steering which is simpler than the older lever system also at least on the Bigfoot, the cooling fan for the brake discs(for steering) has been done away with in favor of a ventilated (I believe) disc.By doing away with the cooling fan it frees up available power from the on board alternator for other things.Pre-2002 I think the Bigfoot and Conquest both are fine machines but not in league with the new Frontiers and Avengers.

You can get a handlebar steering kit for the Conquest and fit 24" tyres which gives it a good edge for the price compaired to the Avenger.

That's good to know Paul. The Conquest has a formidable Kawasaki 20 hp. V-Twin,liquid cooled. An Argo dealer told me recently that they were superb.I learned on levers though and think that once the learning curve is level that levers are quite OK.

                Hey Ed,
Have you received an answer yet from ODG? I have some PDF Operator manuals and parts manuals for the earlier Argos, pre 2003, if you or anyone is interested in them. Have maintenance manuals for the early 80's Argos as well.
                Cheers,

                Al

Hey Swamper, thanks for the offer.
I'm looking at a 2000 Conquest 8x8 w/325hours, plow, Runamucks, tracks, heater, top, winch and trailer hitch for 7500$.
Those manuals would fall into that time span.
I want to look the manuals over to get an idea of what to look for on the unit.
I'll send you a PM with my email address.
                  thanks...ed
