  • Chain Tensioner Old to New ?

The Response I'm looking at getting in the next couple of weeks has the chain tensioner type with the upper and lower tensioner arms and blocks kit #647-10. I thought I read somewhere on this forum that these can be replaced with the newer style ratcheting type, but from what I can tell from manual diagrams the newer style has slots in the frame which I don't think mine has, can anyone clear this up for me? Is there anything wrong with the older style I have?

Don't know of anyone who's done the conversion. Mine's like yours. The arms can get twisted over time 'cause they only have spring tension on one side.. you can reverse them top to bottom so the twist is opposite of what it was. If you look closely at the frame cross members you may see where the chain is touching them. I make plastic/nylon pads to fit in there. Maybe I should make a batch and sell them, or you can come up with your own ideas. The individual arms, spring, and pads used to be available; last time I bought, it was the complete kit for around $30 ea. Keeping good springs on it helps.

      Hi
I was interested in attaching HDPE pads to the frame cross members. How do you attach them? Thanks in advance
