2005 Argo Avenger Tracks

Hello All:

I am new to the forum and have recently purchased a 2005 8x8 Avenger. I will be using my Avenger in flooded rice fields and swamps most all water will be half calf to mid theigh in depth. Are tracks necessary?? If so what type are best for the environments I will be in and for the 2005 Avenger??

Any info. greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the site. You will find it very helpful here As for your question, It sounds to me like you might be swimming most of the time. Tracks are very slow in water but definitely are less harm to the ground. You might want to try it without tracks before investing.

Obviously it sounds like you've got a duckhunting machine. I haven't bought tracks, but i have seriously considered it for my bigfoot. From what I understand I would have to switch tires, and get spacers, and then there's the expense of the tracks. Money is better spent on other things IMHO. Try it out for one hunt, and let me know how your argo did. I'll do the same. You'll know if you need tracks after the first day in a Dirty Rice Field. My 6x6 swims in Calf high water.



Now with all that said, it really depends on where you're hunting. I hunt around the Jonesboro, AR area, as well as SE Missouri. Most every rice field there has a hard bottom. However, Tennessee is a whole different story. The gumbo in TN is more like quick-gumbo, (no sand to speak of) than the clay stuff in AR/MO.

I was in Gumbo here last weekend that tracks would have loved. I got my 04 bigfoot burried in a creek near a flooded bean field. It was like a mud pit, and I won't go back in there.

Keep your expectations realistic, and you'll make it home on time, and your Argo last forever. It will be the best duckhunting investment you've ever made.
