It's starting to get cold and ice fishing is in the near future, all I have is a windshield on my Response, I know I'm going to get a top or have one made for it. I would like to have a source of heat in addition to what the motor gives off which may not be enough in our climates. Has anyone come up with any kind of extra heating system for their Argo?

heater
sporting goods stores sell a propane heater that is compact, runs on the small bottles of propane, has electronic ignition, and is catalytic so there is no flame. I have one, and it works good, just takes a little while if you have a big cab. They are usually around $70. It is made by Coleman.I don't want to go fast, I just want to go anywhere.

I have a full top on my conquest and spend many hours out on lake st.clair icefishing. I have not felt the need for any type of heater in my machine. The only problem I have is the windsheild fogs up unless one of the windows are left open. Once you get your top you can determine if you need it or not. The heat from the engine and plastic windows (greenhouse effect on a sunny day) create lots of heat. Many times I've thawed my minnow bucket by just placing it in my argo.

I agree also...No need for a heater...I thought I needed one....Bought an inline small radiator heater/fan mounted to back of seat..TOO HOT..took that out and went with a small 1 burner coleman...still TOO HOT!!! ...2 minutes cruisin and the heat was off..I keep the coleman in there for emergencies but never use it....We did a couple cruise's to the local Hillbilly bar at night for something differant.....40 min ride ...snowin like hell...freezing out ...still didnt need a heater...and for the fogged up windows..I just carried a towel with...rain-X works also!!!!!!!

I have one of those 12volt heated car seat pads. They were on sale for $10 at Canadian Tire. I laid it flat across the seat, so the driver gets the "butt" portion and the pasenger gets the "Back" portion of the heat pad.
They thing is awesome. I can't believe I didn't do it earlier. Makes a world of difference in the cold. I am in the NWT, Canada and I was out the other night for a test run, it was -15c and I did not have the air heater on as I did not need it.
Cheap and effective.

Hi, My 97 argo conquest came with a heater. Its mounted in the engine compartment on the right side of the engine on the fender under the screen. The unit has it own fan, raditor that is hooked up to the engine cooling system. There is air ducting to blow out from the dash and a connection that blows up onto the bottom of the windshield. I think this is an accessary form argo. I bought the argo second hand so was there when I bought it. The vehicle had a canvas roof at one time but was not part of the deal when I bought it. I have since bought one and keeps us warm on the coldest days. Paul
