fuel filter location help

On my Response I recently bought the fuel filter is located right by the fuel pump with a short piece of hose, the manual however says the fuel filter is located near the fuel tank. Can someone clarify its location and if it's suppose to be by the fuel tank how far away from the tank fitting is it?

Stock it was under the seat, but I guess anywhere before the pump is fine.

yeah I wonder if it matters where it is, there would be more heat under the hood not sure that would effect it. The other thing is it is clear plastic and there seems to be only a little fuel showing, don't know if that's normal.

That's normal, air in the filter.

When I installed mine It didn't fill up like i thought it should but it runs fine. My concern for yours is, there must be a filter somewhere,if it's clogged your wasting your time installing another. Mine was under the seat.It only takes a few minutes to take tool box out.Make sure you check the whole line or even replace it. That stuff is pretty cheap. Hope this helps.

I'm going to get a new filter and move it back to where it was originally located under the seat, I will take the other one at the fuel pump out and run a new fuel line. Thanks

the physics of fuel under vacuum dictates that there is no difference where on the suction line the filter is ,provided the line is capable of resisting colapse in case of a clogged filter ,this would indicate the best place is nearest the fuel pump , however if you know the line is capable of resisting colapse ,that leaves only cosmetic differences the determining factors , ease to check , ease to get at , overall the best place is close to the fuel pump, where it is easy to check and easy to get at.
Fuel under preasure is a little different ,if you put a fuel filter on the high side it must be as far away from the pump as physicaly possible
if you have 2 filters ,one on the high side and one on the low side, be sure that the low side is much larger than the one on the high side ,it will act as a water knock out too
and finally never put 2 filters on the low side
oh i nearly forgot, those little clear plastic filters never seem to fill up unless the outlet arrow is pointed straight up or nearly streight up

Using a fule filter that is large enough not to restrict the fuel flow is the main objective, as with the fuel line. So with this idea, that means you could put 10 filters in line as long as long as they do not cause a fuel flow restriction, but only the first filter will do the work.

well here is a new filter relocated to under the seat, seems to stay about 3/4's full all the time. New fuel and fuel line seems to be a little more responsive and is running better.
