  • Supertracks on Conquest

I purchased a used set of supertracks for my Conquest and after installing them I am concerned they are to tight. I was told there should be 4" between the bottom of the tire and the track when the Argo is on Jackstands and the tires are at 5,7,7,6 psi from front to back. My tires have about an inch of clearance with no air pressure in the tires. They are the older style Argo tracks and I have 36 links per track. I found some installation directions on google and it stated I should be able to pull the tracks by hand to within about 3" and would have to use C clamps to align the links and drive the pin. I had about 8" and used two ratchet straps and was able to gettem together but they seem tight. Can anyone tell me how many track links I should have per side on a Conquest?
    Thanks, Travis

What size tire do you have?I Have an 8x8 with 22" runnamucks and 36 links I run 4lbs. on the corners and 5lbs. in the middle. When i install i flatten the corners after i drive on,park the Argo so the track is going to meet half way up the backside of tire, pull the tracks back over the top and use my hydraulic floor jack on the outer edge of the track, lift til you can get the pin started in the first knuckles, that will hold that side temp, then slide the jack to other side, line the rest of the knuckles up(you will prob. have to tap with hammer while jacking) then finish tapping pin in. Hope this helps.

I too have 22"Runamuks. Do you have any sag in your track while the machine is suspended in the air? I have ordered a set of links to try. I suspect the previous owner of the tracks may have taken a link out to cure stretch issues. I was curious as to how many links the Conquest requires.
      Thanks, Travis

It's been a while but i'm Guessing 3 or 4 inches of sag in the middle. Maybe rock doctor could help you I believe he has a conquest.

I'm running Supertracks, and have 34 links + a "halflink" on my Conquest.

I went and double checked twice. I put them on similar to what mike does, except I pull the track ends togeather with "ratchet straps", or just with the help of a friend. My pins are all pretty new. I run about 5psi in all tires when on tracks. I think that the tracks sag about 4-6 inches when the machine is suspended.

Are your tracks the new style or the older? When I spoke with a Argo parts dealer he stated they should require 35 links. That's what got me thinking because I have 36 links and they are tight. The tracks I have are definetly older Argo tracks with the word molded into the plastic tread of the link. The Conquest is a 1999 with factory 22" runamuks.
So here's another question for ya. Should I go with the Argo ice cleats or bolt a piece of angle iron or maybe a piece of chain across the tread of the links for added traction?

              Argo Tracks

I've never counted links but they do make half links, maybe you need one of those. I am trying to remember now but I beleive I settled on running 4 psi in the front and back wheels and 5-6 in the middle. I add/bleed pressure to the front and back to tighten/loosen. I tighten enough to keep the tracks from slapping the tub as I'm running down the trail. Have your tracks been run the mud this fall? That could have tightened them up. Grasping on that one but maybe they'll loosen up.

I've always run the Argo cleats. They add some benefit. I've seen picutures of chains on tracks. Don't know of any first hand experiece. My only suggestion would be to not put anything on the track where it rides up under the tub. It be a bummer to rub a hole in the tub!

Where do you live? I'm in Wasilla and would be glad to talk with you.

2004, and they also have ARGO molded into the Link faces.

I don't run any "Traction Enhancers", but I do like the idea of putting chains across every 3rd or 4th link. I could see myself trying that plan sometime.
