  • Dog sled trail groomer ...tracks plastic or rubber?

    I'm in Vancouver ,Canada.
Doesn't seem to be the call for Argo / Max type machines here.

    I'm looking at a 6x6 argo 1997 - has a roll cage and that's about it.
16 h.p. B&S,just tuned up new atv square knob tires.
    $2500.00usa
    ound ok ?
Tracks :As my wife is a dog sledder - I'm looking for a cheap snow groomer -I called the local argo dealer for a price on tracks - He asked if I wanted plastic or rubber?
For the 6x6 he quoted 2500.00 cnd for plastic ($3000.00 for 8x8) and $4200.00 for rubber.
    Does this sound about right?
I asked him if there was anything else needed ,he said he wasn't sure?
I thought I read on here that you need to extend the axles outward to get the tracks to fit?
Are there other sources for tracks ?
My buddy only payed $2800.00cnd for the tracks on his 3 ton excavator and there allot thicker and heavy duty then the argo's are?
I might have to make my own out of convayer belting!
Thank you ahead of time for your input ,sugestion's ,knowedge!

That sounds way too steep for tracks,i was in the dealership a month ago and they told me Argo has a surplus of rubber tracks right now so they have dropped the price to just over $1700 for the rubber tracks for 8x8 BUT you still need an adapter kit to put these on(lug nut extensions-adapters) so i would do some investigatin if i were you

That is a rip off! Is he including tires, spacers, cleats and instalation? That is still too much. There must be a member from Western Canada that can help you find a better deal.
Ya ain't stuck til the winch cable comes out!!!

I love my nos amphicat tracks..
tire chain , chains, conveyor belt,,,,, shouldn't cost more than
$200 to $500.00 usd to build your own,,,
        NO installation kit required,,,,,,

Plus a 16 HP is not enough power to effectivly run tracks

must be a lot of shipping cost. the local dealer quoted me $1245 for plastic tracks for a 6x6 and $1800 (I think, could be wrong on that) for rubber.
