  • Rebuilding 1983 8x8 Argo

New to this site, Looks good. Hope you can help.

I am completely rebuilding my Fathers 1983 Argo which he left to me. It has 17 hp. Kohler motor. I have stripped all the axles and replaced all bearings and seals. Have replaced idler bearings. Removed and cleaned starter. Have ordered new regulator and have to rewire whole unit. I am looking for wiring diagram as the original wiring is a shambles and can pick no head or tail there. I am also looking for a service manual for the transmission as I want to rebuild that during the process. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Redwing,

I have electronic copy of the service manual for your unit. It is quite large so send me your e-mail address and I will try and send it that way.

I could use some help here as well with my 83. I have contacted argo, but they did not give me service manuals, only brochures. I am trying to get ready for this fall a bit earlier this time, and fix issues we had in the field. I loved and hated my argo the whole time. It can be a real tear jerker to own an older one. Even ran into an old timer that had one like mine before he quit going all around Alaska. He laughed seeing me driving roll pins on the side of the highway
