  • Motor and Tranny Switch? Older Argo 6x6

Hey everyone.. So I got 2 early 70's 6x6 argos that I plan to make into one mean machine!

I fixed up the 2 stroke kohler engine and got it running great. I have been reading up a bit and I don't know if the 2 stroke would be the way to go. I plan to cruise the trails and go out in the bay and channels to poke around in the water. Not a racer or aggresive at all with the mud and stuff..

Since I am taking the whole thing completly apart and do a rebuild, would I be better off to switch out the 2 stroke for a 4?

What would I need to do? Tranny swap as well? I have the breaking tranny? An oldie thats for sure.

What would be your reccomendations on a swap out? I have some great ideas of some fabbing in the back end and welding a roll cage and stuff too.

    Thanks for any suggestions..

2Strokes don't like to go slow.I would put a 18 or 20 vangaurd in it for trail riding. You will have to change the clutch on the motor and the exhaust.I have a 98 argo 6x6 with a 16hp vangaurd that pull pretty good but a little under powered.an 18 or larger would do alot better.
