This is an idea that I had not thought about , since I own a later model Max IV that has sufficent clearance to put larger after market tires on it . But , this is some thing to consider if you have an amphib with " limited " clearance for putting after market ATV tires on it .

Well I had to see. I took my 24"x12" Avenger Rawhide lll's and put them on the 2000 Conquest. I was able to get them on with out touching, but had to line them up like gears, If the lugs were smaller they would work. Fender clearance was not an issue.
--Does anyone have a picture showing how much gap they have between each tire????

The frontier tire is made for argo by Carlilse I think. No one has found them other than through an argo dealer as far as I know.

Hi Roger, even with the same psi, brand and tire size you could end up with different height with these tires... I didn't know that.... So a could do the same i guess... Can you tell me where can you purchase those 24", tires shops only hold 22" runamuck so far...If we wheren't so far appart i would stop by to try your tires on my argo !!!! Thanks again for the info.

If you have a newer tub then the tires would touch each other before they hit the body. But Rock Doctor and I both run tires around 23.5+" on 24" axle centers. Actually the first and second axle are about an 1/8" under 24". I air all tires to the same psi and measure dia, put the 4 smallest up front.

Hi Roger, I think at 23.5" it's gonna be too close and tires will rub against each others. I got 24" between the center of each axels. Both of my thubs have been changed by the previous owner and i got a 1994 body with squares headlamps instead of the original one. I will stick with the 22". Thanks for the info

I don't know about the earlier bodies like yours, Martwell.. I understand there is less fender clearance, but I will assume the axles are on 2" centers. The "modern" runamuks are 22". The frontier tire is about 23.5" actual.

Hi mightymax, i tried some 22" and they fit right up there. I just want to know if the 08 frontier tire are runamuck or something else.... I still got the original 20" on my vanguard and they are so used that they now mesure 21.5" tall instead of the 19.5" original... That's why i need tires so badly!!!!

Hello RD and MightyMax, i m just about to buy some tires for my 1985 Argo vanguard. My choice is between Goodyear 22-10-8 Runamuck and Goodyear 21-11-8 Rawhide terra. Is the Runamuck tires the same as the frontier tires... To me they look a lot similar... I dont think that i could put more than 22" on my little argo, never tried... Could 24" tires fits...

Martwell- you have to do the same thing that Rock Doc get out the measuring tape and check it out. I am really not sure if they will fit on your vanguard.

Is the Runamuck tires the same as the frontier tires... To me they look a lot similar... I dont think that i could put more than 22" on my little argo, never tried... Could 24" tires fits...

I like the added clearence the 24" Frontiers would give but would sticking with the 22" rawhidelll's with the large lugs be just as good? I emailed the dealer here to get a price.

Chinook-every one who has gone from a rawhide to a frontier has seen a marked improvement in water speed, ride, and traction in most AATV conditions. There are always some places where one tire will out do another, but the frontier tires give a little more ground clearance. They go over trees well. The perform in the swamp conditions down here, and they swim better than anything I have seen! They are also very light mounted on an 8" wheel which means less wear and tear on your vehicle! All and all they are they best all round AATV tire available for now- I wish they would make a 26x12x12 for my max, I would switch quickly!

Rock Doctor, I have a question. Wouldn't the tracks work good all year a round?. I was under the impression the tracks are the ultimate. Where has my thinking gone off the trail?

Rock Doctor has the new Argo 24" on his Conquest. Check with him for input on clearance & performance!!

Anyone have any new data on their (24" Frontier tires on a Conquest) performance. I'm thinking more ground clearance with the 24" Frontier tires, would be better then the larger lugs on the 22" rawhide lll's I have.
I have a 2000 Conquest & a 2005 Avenger. The Avenger is smoother, quieter, floats better, more clearance, and I can drive one handed, but the Conquest follows it almost everywhere. The biggest performance difference I see is in ruts, & mud the higher ground clearance is apparent.


The dealer here said no 24" tires would not fit on a conquest I've seen some charsile on a Response & now these.

Thank you for posting the frontier tires

This helps my dissection on getting a set. I thought they are priced a bit high but I was just quoted $139ea cnd for the Goodyear Runamuks so $126ea doesn’t seem so bad.

I am sure if I looked around a bit more I could get a better price on the good years but if there not as good why bother.

Is slip differential transmission really a big deal if you can independently brake the right and left side?



If so I will ad a ratcheting system to my planetary gears
