    Hi All,

Has anybody picked up a HDi yet?? I might be in the market for one soon (keeping the finger crossed) and was hoping for some feed back but have not seen anything in a while? I would also like to see any pictures if your willing to share. . Seems I can never get enough of looking at pictures of Argo's out doing there thing. Is there another site that I might beable to come up with more info or feed back on the HDi?

    Thanks

The HDi has been working very well. The unit is very fast in high gear even with tracks.I posted a picture in the gallery titled HDi.Check it out and see what you think.I can post more pictures and more info if needed.

        snargo ,

Does the counter rotation in low gear help that much when running tracks like on your 8x8?

See i learnt something already as I did not know they were faster.

How many hours have you put on it.

Have you had or do you see any mechanical issues with it. Guess I am a little worried about buying the first run of something. If I can even get one.

Does the new tranny offer a noticeable difference if so in what kind of conditions?

Nice cab. Whats it made out of?

Yes, more pictures would be great. Like I said I can never get enough.

Mudbug3 ,Even with the upgraded bearings and bearing retainers it will sure take some strain off the driveline.

I have not seen any issues or see where there could be any yet but anything is possible I guess. The transmission looks strong and looking at the parts breakdown it is well designed. To me It looks like ODG tackled all issues that the Avenger faced.I will post more pictures when I download them off my camera. As far as the cab goes PM me and I will answer those .

A guy that drove one said, in so many words, that the power loss in steering was finally gone. The counter rotation deal is really nothing, you can see there's not much counter rotation going on. In high gear, it won't turn as sharp as previous argos. But the power loss fix is the main deal.

I,ve been told that this might be to attract more of the side by side crowd who are not used to the quick side to side steering changes of an amphibious machine.

Stating that it will not turn as sharp as previos Argos is false as it still is a skid steer machine .Mine will turn as sharp as an Avenger in high gear.

He acted like you couldn't lock one track and not have it move as you turned the other side.. in high range.

Maybe on certain ground conditions but on any conditions I tried it on it did lock up.

                          Seems to be happy

A friend of mine that has bought a 2010 wrote this letter and wanted others to know of his satisfaction with his new 2010 Avenger and i said i would post it for him. He is not a site member but i really wish he would join us. So here is what he had to say about his new 2010 Avenger. He is not new to the machines, he had a 04 or 05 Avenger previously.

                          His Words:
I want to let you know that the new Avenger H.D.I. is everything that I hoped it would be. I Use my Avenger for fun, so it is a pretty expensive toy compared to the 4 wheelers
my friends have. So already having a Avenger, it was hard to put out more money for the new
one since I already was riding One. But let me tell you - it was worth it! The H.D.1 took all the
jerking and throwing you around out of the ride. I can guide it through the trails with so much
more ease and at a much faster pace. The fuel injection is just awesome. No warm. up and the
power is there when you need it. The tires make for such a smoother ride, People who have been
in my Avenger can't believe the difference in the ride. I love the HID brakes. To be able to go
down a steep embankment and not to have to put my hand in a bind to apply the brakes, is
wonderful and less stressful. I can run in hi range 95% of the time with no problem. But when
you need to really get into some tight places, low range and being able for it to turn on a dime is
                          the stuff. Unbelievable.
Another thing I love about the H.D.I. is you don't have to come back in after really putting it
through the mill and feel you have done a bunch of wear and tear to the machine. Avenger has
hit a Home Run on the H.D.!. production.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

The HDI is a VERY nice machine. ODG has finally put the finishing touches on things like the previous floor pans and poor fitting firewall. Its easier to drive then a Mudd-Ox but the 2 machines really can't be compared beyond that to a certain degree. HDI will not skid-steer like snargo indicates his does - not sure why there would be a difference??? In high range in any conditions a full turn of the handle bar only slows the inside track/tires down so the turning radius is a bit bigger. This keeps power to both sides and increases performance in the deep snow and it functions similar to Centaur. In low range the inside tires/tracks counter rotate providing for a tighter turn then say an Avenger but not at the same ratio as the speed of the outside track/tires so its "almost" a zero turn. This is really nice in the thick timber or tight trails. All-in-all its a very solid machine.
In the pics below running Argo's 18" rubber track on 24" Frontier tires in 50-60 inches of powder around 9500 ft elevation.

try driving your hdi on ice in high gear or in deep snow they dont turn very well the side that slows down when turning needs traction to help aid in steering and when on slipprey surface it wont respond well nothing like an avenger or frontier.
