We're putting on new chains on a 2008/9 Frontier 8x8. Is it normal to have to take out 2 links on the chain from idle shaft to next rear axle, to make it the right length?

We have Agro 803-56 Chain, RC50-2 x 74P-Mid but like i said it's way too long. Normal or typo in the parts list?

    Thanx guys!

You probably have the wrong sprockets in there. CHeck that first and see if they fit...

My take was that you had solved his problem, if not, here's a few thoughts.
Count the # of links in the old chain, and the new one.
Measure the length of the old chain and compare to the new one.
Check the chain pitch to make sure you have the right chain.
I don't have the specs in front of me (I do have to work sometimes), but you could call a Dealer, they should have it.
Maybe try a search on the site, this has come up before I believe

Am I right in assuming you have bought a "Pre-Cut" chain? If so, you will find it cheeper to buy bulk chain and cut it yourself, as well, you will get better chain.

After reading the first three posts, a 100 people couldn't make sense of the situation. This is not rocket science. Rock Doctor was kind enough to point out the obvious.

heh my bad, I had put the wrong size double sprocket on the mid and front axle's. Dez and me are working together on this machine, so it was kinda a half inside joke that I was replying to All is well after I found the issue with the wrong sprockets.

Thanx for your input tho guys
