The bandolaro engines are good but have no governor on them. They start as a 20hp and are set up for racing, actual hp is around 28hp. That is if you are looking for a new motor. Plenty of giddy-up.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

Kawasaki makes a 29hp EFI that should drop right in. I think that's what I would try to go with if I detonate the 20 in mine.

Something like this is what I was thinking, but I'm sure a guy could get a better price if he looked around a bit.

29 hp Kawasaki OHV Twin - liquid cooled, fuel injection FD791D S00 : Farmers Exchange

The argo I just bought has that same exact kawasaki motor. I have never owned a aatv before. But this thing IS NOT lacking power. Fuel consumption seems good to.

Which one? The FD791 (an upgrade) or the FD620D (the standard)?

Lakeport has the 29hp I believe.

Oh Yeah? From what I can tell, the driver clutch will be 1/4 inch higher and about 1/2 inch further outboard: How is this handled on his install?
Also, any tips on the exhaust mods?

That should be about all there are for mods, right?

Oh, yeah, and a big red push button to put in the choke lever hole so that I can tell passengers, "What ever you do, don't touch the red button...?

I don't know how his was done, but the motor and trans are not hard to move around a bit. Also , if the driver clutch only needs to be moved over 1/2", I think you could just cut that much off the motor output shaft.
I wouldn't worry about the 1/4" increase in hight.

The exhaust should be pretty straight forward, you could probaby modify the 20hp pipe to fit, it might even bolt right on.

Also, the 29 is a little taller, so a guy might have to mod the Argo hood a bit. Probably just hit it with a little heat, and mold it up a bit.

I want one of those Red Buttons too

where did you find the dimensions. I'd like to take a look at them. Dropping a 29 into my Conquest sounds like a great idea

Yeah, 1/4 inch up tangent a radius of 18 inches (I don't know how far apart the shafts really are) changes the radius about .002 inches.
The shaft does have extra length so cutoff was one solution I imagined - also shimming out the driven clutch. Just curious how it was done.

I couldn't quite tell from the dimensions.

From what I see it isn't.

[I came back to edit this part] The 791 appears to be 12mm deeper across front to back. But 14mm from shaft back so the whole things shifts back a bit. It shouldn't be much of an issue: which of course just jinxed me to project mod eternal torture.

                        FD620D
                        FD791D

I agree. This looks like an easy project and if I can sell the FD620D reasonably (defined by my wife, of course) I might persue this.

                          Tks, that's perfect.
Actually looks like the 29hp is 6cm shorter than the 20hp, that's a good start
Exhaust outlets are different, but it looks like you might be able to use the exhaust that comes with the 29, just add an extension to rout it out the stock hole in the Argo.
Looks like lots of room to nip the end off the 29hp shaft.

I think you're right, it would be an easy mod, now I just have to find a dealer close by with reasonable prices I tried to find one last night without any luck

I did find some on 29 hp kawasaki - Compare Prices and Buy on Shopping.com that came without the Air Cleaner, Exhaust, and Rad for about 1400 bucks.

Again, thanks for the links, They help alot

My motor is the kawasaki fd791d. Hope that helps. Don't know any thing else about it. It was in there when I bought it. I do know that I just pulled out a 4 wheeler that was buried beyond the floor boards trying to get off the lake from ice fishing with absoulutley no problems at all. Just wish he had left the shantey on so I didn't have to make a second trip. HA!!
