  • Sinking an Argo

Has anyone ever heard of an Argo going down in deep water not caused by the obvious drain plugs being left out? My Frontier has the stock bilge pump that I have never had to use as I typically run mine on smaller lakes but its hard to believe someone out there hasn't had leaky bearing seals or taken on water over the sides on a larger choppy lake, etc. A lot of us probably don't have insurance for this sort of thing and I'm thinking the vehilce would be a total loss if it sinks .....

I heard of a Bigfoot that was being towed improperly behind a powerboat, it got swamped, filled, and submerged. It floated like an iceberg, nose down. The tires kept it on or near the surface.. I didn't get the details. But it didn't go to the bottom. Not sure how a frontier compares, I think it's lighter, and maybe a little less flotation in the tires, not sure.

If the engine wasn't too hot and ingested water while running, it could easily survive and be drained, the fuel system cleared. If the insurance wants to total it because it got wet, I'll buy it.

No need to total it. Recently experienced on submerged in salt water and it is back on the job.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

        I know of 3
One was a hunter, his wife, and their dogs crossing a river. Argo swamped, hunter and wife survived, dogs drowned.
Another was a friend crossing another river. Argo swamped, buddy made it to shore, Argo ended up in a Logjam and had to be lifted out with an A-Star Hellicopter.
Another was the older 6x6 that I used to own. It was sunk in a swamp, and recovered a couple weeks after.

None of them "sunk", they all had at least a bit of the machine floating.
