Broke a wheel on my argo

I have a 2008 argo 750 efi with super tracks.

I BROKE A WHEEL OFF.. The wheel came off at the bolt backing plate where it attatches to the axle.

My question is, rather than buy all new axle parts etc. which is a huge undertaking, can I simply weld the wheel back on to the axle. Will I have alloy problems or straightness problems. I have a little shop wire feed and very little apptitude on it.

It looks pretty straight forward, and if it is a good idea, I would run a bead around the others to reinforce them?
your thoughts would be appreciate.

I'm kinda confused about where it broke. dont weld the wheel permanently to the axle!

Regardless you should Take the axle out and the wheel off to do this properly and see if the break appears to line up.If it does,Take it to a machine shop and get it welded by someone that does this every day. It probably should be done with a stick welder for stronger weld. These wheels can get a lot of stress, especially the front ones when running tracks. i have broken many many hubs off the ends of axles on the older Argos, the alloy they made the hub out of sucks , i had new 3/8 plate hubs made and welded them on never had a prob with them since, i believe Princess Auto now makes hubs just for this purpose (i saw them in their catalog once)

It was the hub off the end of the axle(WHERE THE WHEEL BOLTS ON). I have welded it and took it for a spin without the tracks. seems ok. Will track up and take it in the busch
on the week end and let you all know how it went. Seems better and Stronger and straight.

|Well the weld held, put on 12 tough hours in bush and it was great. Did pop a back chain but thats all part of the fun.
