  • Thought I could test ride the rebuilt Argo

I finished putting the Argo together in a marathon work session the last two days.
Excited about finally getting to try it out...
Hit the starter, Engine fires, runs for a few seconds and stalls.
Hit the starter again, big curl of smoke from the starter.
The engine is not seized but the compression release does not work. (Hasn't since I've owned the machine).
I took the starter apart and the armature is burnt up.
Anyone have a Tecumseh OH160 starter or parts for sale?

I also tried to start it with a rope, and dowel handle, it kicked back and pulled the rope
and knot right through the handle I was holding with both hands. Nice burn between my fingers.
    I won't try that again.

    The saga continues.

At least you are getting closer to having it running.

      tecumseh starter

If you are in bad need of a starter, I have one that I bought for a spare. I have changed out the tecumseh engine and don't need this now. I want $35.00 for it and you pay shipping. If interested let me know and I will get a shipping quote for you. GreggV.

          It Moves!!

I finally got the Argo back together, and the engine started. The engine needs some tune up work, but it moves!! These machines are not so great for the yard though...

I know it was a big relief to get your Argo 6x6 all back together again, and then have it start right up. I,m sure that your wife really enjoys you tearing up the yard. lol
