  • Argo Conquest chain tentioners

    Hi all,
Need some advice just bought a 1995 Argo Conquest when i turn (Left or Right) there is a banging under the foot plate the guy i bought it off tells me it is the chain tentioners and it has done this since he firs got it it has recently been serviced by an argo dealer and they didnt mention it is this normal as this is my first Argo i have had a max for a year and no such noises occure when turning.
    Any hellp would be appreciated.

It is normal for that type of chain tensioner, they changed around '99. It's the upper arm and pad hitting the front floor pan. You might try glueing a piece of rubber, etc to the pan where it hits to dampen the sound.

If the arms look like they're bent and not pushing flatly on the chains, you can swap the arms top for bottom, then the twist will be opposite of what it was. Sometimnes I add a washer on the shaft to keep the arms from hitting the frame. The springs can get weak also, stretched chain doesn't help either.
