  • Value of 2003 Argo 700 Avenger?

I have wanted a 6 wheeler etc. since I was a kid with a GI Joe 6 wheel ATV. I finally have a chance to get what I think is pretty good deal on one. A guy from work is selling a 2003 ARGO 700 Avenger with a trailer to tow it on. This thing has less than 50 hours on it. It has been kept inside and looks new. Can you folks tell what it is worth?

    Thank you,
    Sam

Hi Sam, welcome to the site. From the limited number of Avengers that I have seen online the cheapest I have seen one go for was a 2007 model that went for $9,000 on ebay a while back with about the same number of hours. Was 2003 the first year for Avengers? I was thinking it was 2004 but my knowledge of Argos is sub-par. Anyway, maybe one of the Argo experts will chime in with an average price that you would typically expect to pay. I would guess that with the trailer if you could get it for under $9,000 you would be doing good.

I was at a ride at the Ledges at the end of July when a dealer brought the first Avenger that anybody there had ever seen. I am 99% sure that that was 2004 but I stand to be corrected. The 2004 model had a poor attachment of the hubs to the axles that seemed to show up when tracks were mounted. The same model needed a modification to the brake cable attachment which is still used today except maybe on the hdi model. Bottom line to me is IF it was never left out in the rain to rust and only has 50 hours on it and the new owner is prepared to deal with the mods. that will be needed at some point when they come up then it might be a good buy.

Maybe the build date was '03 shown on the vehicle ID, I thought '04 was the first year for sales.

Hey NJXX, I just bought a 04' 8X8 Avenger in Alberta, Canada for $13,000. With 50 hrs. on it, It is spotless, and came with a 3500 lbs. winch and windshield. Hope that gives you an idea of where it should be priced. I realize the one you are looking at is a 6X6. 8X8's with about 250 hrs. here are going for about $8000 from an oilfield rental shop. Without anything on them.
If it looks like you can't make it, you probably can't, but what the hell you can call in sick tomorrow......right?
