Hey guys. I picked up a set of used supertracks for my conquest. Dealer here tells me that the tracks arent gonna be helpful at all??? I run in mostly muskeg and bottomless swamp. How much of a difference am i gonna notice with these tracks? I havent got them on yet, but I was over at the dealership the other morning for coffee when they told me this. What are your thoughts?

I am not familiar with the conditions of those Canadian swamps but I have a PPT (Passe ParTout) tracked machine and also had a set of steel logering track on an 863 Bobcat SkidSteer. The PPT is similar to a 6 or 8 wheeler and runs great on rubber tracks. I can tell you that there is a huge difference running tires on a skid steer vs over the tire tracks at least on soft mud or snow. however if you are needing to "swim" your machine then tracks probably will not cut it unless you added some kind of cleat on the track to paddle. If you don't need to swim then I would say your dealer is full of it.
Or run tracks and get a trolling motor Heh!2000 Land Tamer with Tracks.

Well I own a 2009 650 6x6 Frontier with rubber tracks and I live in Nova Scotia Canada. We have alot of very mucky, marshy and rocky terrain and I can tell you now, absolutely nothing stops me. I paid a lot of coin for the tracks and they were worth every cent. If there is something you want to go through or somewhere you want to travel, the tracks make all the difference in the world. The only thing you'll notice is that the supertracks being plastic will slip and slide on rock or ice. The rubber gets a little better grip. I would however not ever take my Argo into a lake or stream with the rubber tracks. You are dead in the water! Your dealer obviously don't drive an Argo with tracks.

First day i got my argo I ran the tracks and went for a good spin through the marsh. then I took the tracks off and tried to follow the same route. I got stuck 3 times and had to winch out and turn back. what does that tell you. oh and if you drive into water so that your floating, and with your tracks on, you will look exactly like a wounded duck.

Good for you Dale. You are really going to enjoy those tracks. As far as clutch set up I can't help you but, I just run in low range with tracks on.Only when I cross a field or someplace with a hard surface that I will switch to high range. And hard pack snow.

so Dale7637 do you ever go up to margaret lake or pichimi lake ?? those plastic tracks do work wonders on the trips up there and i wouldnt go up there without them, the plastic is a little troublesome at semo lake due to the boulders on the shoreline but other than that they work like a dream
PS fill out your profile so we can see who you are , lol ,dont be shy around hereHe who has not cruised the back country in a 6x6 , has not lived life to it's fullest

For nasty much these tracks can't be beat. About half the weight of Argo's super tracks and the actually propel the machine in water almost as good as tires. Its nice to be able to actually climb out of the water onto the bank without hassle.

Further to the conversation. I have a swamp behind my place, loonpoop bottom, weeds but basically no structure, there is no way you could walk through it. In May I went through it with tracks on and it was so effortless that I assumed the bottom was still frozen from winter. The next day I took my tracks off and tried the same route. Big Mistake. The difference was so large in performance that if I had not been there I honestly would not believe it. So tracks have their place.
Having said that, I find tracks problematic. I would not run them consistantly on any sort of hard surface. Even on the hard pack snow in the spring here I run into problems with windup if i am not constantly on my tires pressures.
my 2cents

i know that black stuff real well , we got some brown stuff just like it , if you step in it there aint no guarentee you are gonna come up again LOL with out tracks yur TOAST
as for the track wind up , if you have plastic tracks split them and track the 2 front axles together and then the 2 rear axles together, it stops the wind upHe who has not cruised the back country in a 6x6 , has not lived life to it's fullest
