just picked her up and i am so excited. pulled the blown motor and its got a threaded clutch on the 18 mag. should have bought that one out of the classified. Today i got a moving map going on a laptop for it for caribou season. Do you think that alternator can handle an ac adapter running a laptop fulltime. its under a top.

You will do better buying a 12 volt power adaptor for your laptop. laptops draw about 100 watts at 12v or less in general. so divide watts by volts to see how many amps your laptop will require.. most small engines only put out about 10 amps to charge the battery at most... there should be a tag on the laptop or regular adaptor that tells you how much power it outputs so you will know exactly. here is another idea, download a free app called battery status and it will show you exactly how many watts your laptop is currently using. my netbook runs around 7 to 13 watts though the max power supply input is 40 watts...2000 Land Tamer with Tracks. -
thank you for the reply. today installed a new wiring harness and an engine I picked up for it. things look encouraging for a drive tomorrow. I will throw that program on my laptop. what I am wondering is if I will hurt my charging system on that kohler by drawing too much power or if I will simply draw my battery down. if it doesnt hurt the sysytem it seems like I could just let it charge for twenty minutes at the end of a ride to let the battery charge up. the inverter i put on is a cigarette lighter type and is rated at 75 watts. does it supply that even when the draw is less?Comment

It only supplies what is demanded... there should be a tag listing its max current draw on the inverter, I got one of those style in my wife's car.... you should be fine it wont hurt the engine any running it full time..... My guess is that it will only actually draw a couple amps most of the time
