  • Crossing water with floats/pontoons added on

Anyone use added flotation when crossing water? I've seen a few pictures and seen some guys that had add outriggers with styrofoam blocks on them. I'm wondering if I could use my spare tires as added floatation, if I had a arm that swung out on each side to attach them to?

A neighbor has an argo that is set up to do exactly what you are talking about with the spare tires. He bought it set up that way and hadn't ever tried it out so who knows how well it worked. The machine had a homemade hard top on it. The guy had a piece a square tube across the back seat. The spare tires were mounted on square tube that would slide into the tube behind the seat. When not being used as out riggers the tires & tube slid into mounts on the top of the rig.

That's for the most part what I was thinking. Just trying to use what I'm bringing already instead of adding more. I'm think I'll line them up so the middle of the tires line up with the seam of the argo tubs.
